If you’re like me, you first heard about nutrition in school, and thought, “boring.” All the dietary facts and statistics are like dates and events in History class. Once we start learning why the events happened, history becomes interesting and relevant to us now. When we learn why it’s important for our current and future lives, good nutrition goes from boring to interesting and essential. Forget the boring details, this article is all about how to keep from having a weak and tired, mentally slow, impoverished, diseased, short life…now you’re interested!
Forget Nutritional Values: Most health articles are all about how much of this you should have or that to avoid…what is good and what is bad. You can find that anywhere. Until you know why that stuff is important, none of it matters. It just sounds like someone lecturing you on how to live. I don’t know about you, but I’m too busy living to want to spend much time being preached at. People preached at me for years about smoking being bad for me, but until I experienced what it was actually doing to me, I wasn’t interested in quitting. Once I knew why to quit, how to quit was easy. Once you know why to have good nutrition, how to do it will be easy, too.
Nutrition And Energy Now: Stop drinking liquids for 2 days and tell me how you feel. Tired? Go 3 days and you’ll be dead. Water is essential. Every nutrient works the same as water on a slower scale. The worse your nutrition is, the less energy you will have to live your life. When we’re young, we can usually go a long while before we crash, but the crash is certain if we don’t have a balanced, healthy diet. When we’re older, we can feel the crash coming…trust me. The first thing nutrition does for you is give you energy for the physical activities of life, today.
Nutrition And Mental Ability: It isn’t just for physical activities. How fast you learn and whether you can work through thinking problems all depend on good nutrition. Deficiencies in some cases can actually cause you to have the symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease, or Schizophrenia, for example. By maintaining good nutrition, you can improve your ability to learn and process information. Tests of students at all age levels have confirmed this. Mental ability has to do with more than learning facts and solving problems, though. Social success depends on picking up and understanding subtle clues. Often, people are considered slow because poor nutrition causes them to miss those clues and react inappropriately. If you’ve ever been laughed at by your peers, it’s possible a good diet can help prevent that.
Nutrition And Income: Energy, mental ability, education and social skills all combine to determine how we do in the business world. Since all of these things can be improved, the relationship is obvious between good nutrition and how much money or satisfaction you have, professionally. One executive put it this way, “It isn’t that people are angry, uncooperative and don’t want to work, it’s just that they’re ill due to their poor nutrition choices.” Diet changes your emotions; how you see things, how you react to things, what you feel. It’s no accident that some executive interviews occur over a meal. Employers know that people who follow good nutritional habits are better, more productive, more cooperative, healthier employees.
Nutrition And Disease: It’s probably very obvious to most people that poor diet and disease are related. Many major diseases, like heart disease and diabetes, have been linked to nutrients for most of our lives. What isn’t as obvious is the link between good nutrition in general and almost every disease, from the common cold and flu, to cancer. Good, balanced nutrients give your body what it needs to fight off minor colds and the terrible, frightening, crippling and life-threatening diseases. Even if you have a genetic pre-disposition toward certain diseases, good nutrition can reduce the risk of actually getting most of them. Daily, scientists are finding more and more evidence of the importance of diet in fighting, preventing and curing diseases.
Nutrition And Long, Quality Life: I guess it’s obvious if the above is true, your life will be longer. Many studies over the past 6 decades have confirmed a strong relationship between nutrition and longevity. They’ve also found that the quality of life is greatly enhanced.
Why is nutrition important? Because you can have more energy, more mental ability, more money, less disease and more life by simply making sure you have a good, balanced intake of nutrients. Now that you know why, here’s a resource for information on the what and how of good nutrition. Knowing why it’s important will help you navigate the sea of information on vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, antioxidants and everything else that’s out there. Enjoy!
As a title to an article, this may not look very exciting, but there’s a real problem to talk about. We need to start with the latest profit figures announced by the three pharmaceutical companies that manufacture erectile dysfunction drugs. They have all announced big increases in profits. We live in a capitalist society so the mere fact of profits is not unusual. But we are not talking about a few million dollars. We are talking about hundreds of millions. Now this is not money somehow plucked out of the air. All this money has come from you, the paying customers. This may be direct. You went to your doctor, got a prescription and paid the retail price to your neighborhood drugstore. Or indirect because you carry some form of health insurance and the plan paid for the drugs. Except, of course, you pay for the plan through premiums or accept the benefit of the plan as part of your remuneration at work. However you look at it, you pay for those drugs. So why worry?
One of the pressures that comes from the current recession is the need to save money wherever possible. In the case of must-have drugs, the easiest way to save money is to buy online. There are no accurate figures available, but there’s little doubt the number of erectile dysfunction drugs sold through the internet has been rising steadily over the last two years. Yet at a time when we are seeing more money spent on advertising these drugs on television and in the media generally, the US profits are rising. Remember, the US manufacturers do not supply the online pharmacies. They all buy from offshore manufacturers who charge rather less for the drugs. So the US manufacturers are making more money from a decreasing number of men?
This is where we get into unknown territory. There’s no accurate count of the number of men who suffer erectile dysfunction. It’s just too embarrassing a problem for many and they will avoid admitting it to a doctor who might write it into their medical records. It’s possible more men are now prepared to visit with their doctors, but the more likely explanation is cost-cutting by the manufacturers and quiet price increases. The remaining question is whether extracting more money from fewer men would be a bad thing.
Levitra has consistently been found the most powerful of the three erectile dysfunction drugs. When the other two give up, the third will give you some response. In older men, this is particularly important. We now live in a culture when our seniors expect to be able to stay sexually active for longer. Yet the medical evidence shows an increasing number of men lose sexual power as they age. All three drugs maintain sexual activity but the power of Levitra is demonstrated in the clinical trials dealing with the consequences of surgery for prostate cancer. This is an older man’s problem and this drug routinely restores sexual activity even though the surgery may have been quite radical. In such cases, you cannot put a value on a drug. You just pay to restore the activity.
Have you been working lately? Do you love your work? Do you find it hard to balance your work and family? Do you need a break?
Research has proved that working women have extra nutritional needs. Women who have full-time jobs and have a family are always under pressure of staying ahead of the game in a competitive work environment and trying to balance home and office and do well at both.
Does your husband lend you a hand in doing household activities or looking after children? It helps.
Some diseases like anxiety, depression, osteoporosis are more common in women.
Health Tips:
#1 You need a balanced diet containing enough vitamins and minerals as well. It improves your mental performance and your immunity which helps fight diseases.
#2 Drink a lot of water. Fresh fruit juices (without added sugar) are good too. Avoid fizzy drinks.
#3 Exercise regularly. You can go for jogging, cycling or even a walk. It helps ward off heart diseases and decrease stress and anxiety.
#4 Use the stairs instead of the elevator at the office or park your car few meters away from your workplace.
#5 Always take a break. Do not burden yourself with extra work. Take time to relax. Make a schedule.
#6 Planning is essential. Plan your week with priorities.
#7 Go for regular health checkups. Make sure your blood pressure and cholesterol are within normal limits.
#8 Sleep well at night. At least 8 hours of sleep is essential. It will keep you fresh the next day.
The strength that working women have is a wonder. However, you should know when to draw the line and take a break. You can take a vacation, travel or simply relax by chatting with friends.
Hernia is a medical condition that is characterized by relaxation of a muscle that holds an internal organ in a particular location leading to movement of that organ that ultimately causes different health problems as well as painful symptoms. When speaking of hiatal hernia it is the stomach that moves from the abdominal cavity upwards into the chest.
People suffering from constant acid reflux problem are always looking for a solution that could deliver an effective relief for this unpleasant condition. Of course, the alternative acid reflux solutions that will be discussed further do not provide a 100% success guarantee, however if taking the right direction in changing your lifestyle the problem can be addressed effectively and without additional treatments.
Hiatal hernia is often associated with acid reflux disease or GERD being indicated as one of the reasons for this health condition. GERD is known to be mainly a muscular disorder linked to improper functioning of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). This muscle connects the stomach with the esophagus and prevents the food from getting up back after it has entered the stomach. When the sphincter is too weak or functions abnormally the contents of the stomach reflux into the esophagus and damage its inner lining due to the high acidity of the stomach liquids.
What does this have to do with hiatal hernia? Recent studies have shown that the misplacement of the stomach has a direct impact on the functioning of LES. Normally, LES is enforced by the diaphragm, which lies within the same plane and helps keep the muscle closed tight. However, when hiatal hernia is present the LES gets misplaced too and the diaphragm is no longer able to support it. Thus the sphincter becomes less effective and stomach contents reflux more often into the esophagus causing such unpleasant symptoms as heartburn.
There are different conditions that may cause hiatal hernia. Some of the most common factors contributing to its development include pregnancy, uncomfortable clothing, abrupt physical stress, serious abdominal injury, constipation, vomiting. This may be also caused by birth and development defects or weakening of the inner tissue holding the organs in their places.
Overcoming hiatal hernia and GERD rarely involves surgery. First of all in order to reduce the effects of acidity your doctor may prescribe you with Aciphex. Aciphex works by regulating the production of acid within the stomach and lowering its impact on the esophagus during reflux. Still, it’s a measure to eliminate the consequence. So when it comes to treating the actual cause doctors usually recommend the following measures:
- Take smaller meals more frequently.
- Do not consume foods and beverages that may provoke acid reflux.
- Avoid eating in less than 3 hours before bedtime.
- Try to avoid lifting heavy weights.
- Get rid of excessive weight.
- Stop smoking.
- Keep the head of your bed 4-8 inches higher then the rest of your body.
- Don’t wrap your waist into tight clothes.
- Avoid lowering your upper parts too much after eating.
- Avoid constipation and consult with your physician if you have such problems.
These measures are very effective in preventing and stopping the development of hiatal hernia, and the earlier you take them, the easier it will be for you to minimize the impact of this health condition.
A big part of why erectile dysfunction develops in the first place are the physical and psychological factors. If you’re overweight, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, as well as depression, anxiety, or even just a lot of stress, you have a pretty good chance of experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence.
Luckily, the right diet will get you on your way to solving those problems.
Similarly, avoiding certain foods is a good way to start eating right and getting over your problems to become your old virile self.
Lowering Cholesterol and Blood Pressure
What not to eat
- Burgers
- French fries
- Steak
- Fried chicken
- Breaded fish
- Dairy
- Donuts
- Egg yolks (yellows)
- Pastries
- Greasy foods
Anything deep fried is something you should definitely stay away from. On top of that, meat and dairy in general are really bad for your blood pressure.
Eat this!
- Broccoli
- Nuts
- Carrots
- Apples
- Mangos
- Avocado
- Leafy greens
- Whole grains (cereals)
- Oatmeal (not the instant stuff)
Your #1 priority in dieting to reduce cholesterol and high blood pressure is fiber. Fiber fiber fiber. FIBER!!!
Dietary fiber is proven to take that HDL right out of your arteries and get your blood pumping normally again.
Foods to Increase Energy
What not to eat
- Foods high in saturated fat
- Too much
If you feel tired or sleepy after eating, that means you’ve eaten too much. All those calories have sent your body into shut-down mode. It’s really hard to exercise when you’re stuffed, but it’s especially bad if you’ve got to take a nap right after.
Eat slowly to make sure you don’t overeat, drink lots of water, and try to take a walk after dinner. Learn your limit and, until then, put small portions on your plate.
What to eat
- Strawberries
- Soy
- Orange juice
- Wheatgrass
- Chocolate (just a little bit of the dark stuff!)
- Nuts (for unsaturated fats)
- Pomegranate
Vitamins are really going to be the fuel you want. Antioxidants make sure your system is running efficiently; get a lot and you’ll be supercharged.
If you find you are really tired one day, take a vitamin B12 supplement. Beef has a lot of B12, but the negatives outweigh the positives here.
Suppress Cravings
If diet is essential, making sure you stay on your diet is absolutely critical. There are certain foods you can eat that make it easier to eat with your head, not your stomach. As an added benefit, some of these may also suppress cravings for cigarettes, which is a great way to get rid of ED.
- Raw Almonds
- Raw Cabbage
- Green Tea
- Soup
- Pickles
- Kim Chi
- Quinoa
- Avocado
Psychoactive Ingredients (Not literally)
Viagra won’t help you with the psychological problems associated with ED. There are certain foods that just work wonders for allowing people to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression.
- Blueberries
- Spinach (cooked)
- Flax
- Nuts
- Garlic
- Lemon juice
- Peanuts
- Water (not soda, coffee, or black tea)
Foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin B6 are exactly what you need to beat anxiety and depression.
Of course, sometimes you just have to use Viagra, but even then, eating right increases your chances of it working and you beating erectile dysfunction. By all means use Viagra and blood pressure medication, but pills are only part of the solution.
Children’s Medicaid is a federally funded health care program through the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The purpose of the program is to provide health care to uninsured children around the country who are from low income families. While the qualifications and program details vary from state to state, all states have this primary mission in common.
Qualifying for CHIP
By providing coverage to children who lack health insurance, Children’s Medicaid helps low income families pay for medical costs to ensure that their children get the health care they need. To be eligible for CHIP coverage a family must meet the following requirements:
The prospective child or children must be 18 years old or younger. The family must be residents of the state from which they are requesting coverage. The uninsured child must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
